Lantern Festival

Art of Asia - Lantern Festival
Theme:  Create a unique and symbolic lantern!

Essential Questions: 
1. What do lanterns symbolize?
2. By making your own lantern, what is your deepest hope to the world?

Materials: papers or colored papers( optional), scissors, rulers( optional), glue/ tape /stapleothers( to connect parts together), found objects, recycle materials. Please do not ask your parents to get materials for you, you can make the lantern from anything! If you want to light the lamp (electronically, no flames), it depends on if you can find the right materials or not. Please clean your own mess!

Brainstorming /Get inspired: 30 minutes
Studio time: Create your own kind of lantern!  90 minutes
Google Classroom Assignment:  Submit a slide
Slide 1: Cover page 
Project title: Lantern Festival
Subtitle:  Name and class code
Slide 2: Answer the essential questions
1. What do lanterns symbolize?
2. By making your own lantern, what is your deepest hope to the world?
Slide 3: Final artwork

Steps:

3. Think about the symbolic meaning of your lantern and try to design the unique lantern with materials you can find in the house. Be meaningful,  be functional and be safe!
