Three Styles of ART

Three Styles of ART- Drawing Lesson 

Goal:  Students will learn different art styles and use different mediums by selecting an object to depict   and complete the requirement.

Rubrics and steps: 

Step 1:Understand different  Art Style. 

Step 2: Chose and sketch an object that covers three columns. (  Animal's head with patterns or textures ,  Famous Building landmark. Discuss with Ms. Hsieh for approval.  

Step 3 The item will be segmented into three columns and each art style will be designed in a different column. The composition must cover 90% of the space. 

Step 4:  Design an art style for each column. The middle  Middle column must be the style of realism. 

Step 5: Must have demonstrated skilled techniques from Elements of Art / Principles of Design in each column. ( value, texture, color, line, shapes, space)( balance, proportion, emphasis, unity, movement, pattern)

Step 6: Use a different art medium for each column. ( pencil, colored pencil, watercolor, Black sharpie.)

For example:  

Middle = Realism---  art that realistically depicts objects (animals with textures of fur, patterns, scales.  Landmarks with complex design and textures ) 
Left =  Surrealism--- art that depicts dream worlds.  
Right =  Abstract /Art Deco--- art that does not depict any form, just design, and expression. 

What are the three art styles in the following artwork? 

Art Medium: Colored pencils,  gradian pencils, watercolor, sharpies.

Rubric:

1. Fully understand the definition of the art styles and represent three art style ideas through the artwork.

2. The designed composition must cover 90 % of the paper.

3. Must fully understand the character of art medium to show skilled drawing presentation. 

4. Must identify techniques from Elements of Art and Principles of Design for each column.  For example:

 Art medium: Pencil/ color pencils- 

 Element of art: Value

 Technique: Showing pressure Shading techniques and adding texture to show the skilled quality of value 

5 Work on the Google Classroom assignment 

6. Craftmentship at least working 75 minutes per column.
