 Assignment 1-draft of a pencil drawing
Rubric:
Search a photograph of the following fruit and sketch a pencil drawing including the following components:
1. Fruit with leaves
2. Composition: Off-center, emptiness space
3. basic shading to indicate tones and values
4. Calligraphy: Title/ Poem 
5. Chinese Signature

Practice Chinese painting
Rubric
1. Watch a demonstration from Ms. Hsien
2. Practice on the calligraphy fabric sheet
3. Practice 3 times on white drawing papers
4. You will have 3 white rice papers to work on your finals
4. You need to create a title/poem and signature on your painting 
5. You can bring two home and leave one ( your/teacher's choice best one ) to Ms. Hsien and Ms. Chung  for Chinese New Year decoration

Persimmon
Six persimmon fruits are symbols of enlightenment. The symbolism reveals that green persimmons are acrid and bitter in their immature state, they represent ignorance. As the fruit matures, it becomes sweet and represents wisdom that comes after transformation.

2.  Take a professional picture of your Final Artwork
3. Explain the meaning of the poem/title
4. Reference
