Photographing your Artwork
1. Start with good lighting
Photographing with your artwork in natural light
Sometimes you can’t see the artwork because of glare and reflections
Placing your painting on the floor by an open door will give you good illumination, even on a rainy day!
2. Make sure your camera is parallel with your artwork.
Standing over the painting and holding the phone/ camera directly PARALLEL above it
Crop out the unnecessary background
You can also hang the artwork on a wall
One of the simplest mistakes artists make photographing their art is failing to align themselves straight-on with the artwork, thus distorting the shape of the artwork.
The number 1 is a great photo with no distortion.
The number 2 and number 3 are distorted.
3. Make sure it's focus: blurred images will make your photographs unusable.
